Shrinkwrap Delivers 3rd Machine to Leading FMCG Sugar Distributor

A leading British FMCG sugar distributor took delivery of their third shrink wrapping machine from Shrinkwrap Machinery Co Ltd. based in Poole, Dorset. One of a newly designed range of sleeve wrapping machines from Shrinkwrap, Technical Manager Jeremy Frith said ‘we have been designing and building machines for over 45 years and it was a great opportunity to apply all the knowledge we have gained over this period and apply new technologies and ideas to produce something that we believe is new to the market.  Not only does this machinery range look very different it also out performs its predecessor in terms of output rates and energy efficiency’.

The Operations Director on site comments that the decision making factors for placing their most recent order with Shrinkwrap for the replacement equipment were: Cost, reliability and robustness of design and lower replacement component costs than many of the larger European manufacturers. Build quality was also a factor.

When asked about working with the team at Shrinkwrap he also comments: We have, over the last 3 years, developed a very strong relationship with the small and friendly team at Shrinkwrap. They are more than willing to listen to your requirements and develop something bespoke, at a fraction of the design costs of the larger manufacturers of similar equipment..

And finally, when asked what was the thing that impressed him the most through the whole experience he says: The people and the build quality.

The equipment supplied was a fully automatic side entry sleeve wrapper with 650mm wide sealing system and collation unit.  The machine is employed to collate and wrap 500gm and 1kg packs of sugar in packs of 5 or 10.  The machine was designed and built once again with the product characteristics in mind; a flatbed in the tunnel was used and a special NOVO conveyor belt in the tunnel with heaters placed in the sides.  All of these design features reduce the fire risk that is associated with the packaging of this product using a heat tunnel.

The compact heat tunnel has been redesigned with energy efficiency firmly at the top of the agenda.  With a power requirement of just 18kw the new heat tunnel is significantly more cost effective.  The ergonomic design of the wrapper section allows clear view, easier and quicker access for operators and maintenance personnel.

Shrinkwrap Machinery is a family business, established since 1967 and specialists in the design and manufacture of shrink wrapping and pack handling equipment.
