Nairn’s Oatcakes take delivery of their new shrink wrapper

Shrinkwrap have delivered an Automatic Shrink Wrapper with a 650mm wide seal to the Edinburgh based biscuit manufacturer Nairn’s Oatcakes.

The machine designed and built by Shrinkwrap Machinery in Poole Dorset, was required to wrap boxes of biscuits in trays in a 2 by 3 format for eventual supply into wholesale outlets. Previously the company housed their box format in a cardboard outer, but research showed then that their customers wanted to see inside the pack on purchase and shrink wrapping was an ideal way to achieve this.

The machine is capable of running up to 25 packs per hour and uses a moving head system sealing on a silicone seal belt to achieve higher wrapping speeds than the conventional fixed head machine.

One of Nairn’s key decision making factors was that the machine was British built, being a British business themselves priding themselves on the highest of product standards they were delighted to find a like minded company able to supply them with a wrapping machine
